Lossiemouth FC - Match Report
Lossiemouth v Clachnacuddin @ Grant Park, Lossiemouth

01-Oct-2011 Lossiemouth v Clachnacuddin - Scot-Ads Higland League

Lossie threw away all three points with a late collapse against Clach at a soaking Grant Park. Ahead at the interval thanks to a Ross Archibald goal, the Coasters were pegged back in the second before Liam Archibald put Lossie ahead for a second time, but a crazy last few minutes saw Lossie concede twice and have Steven Sim ordered off.

The hosts were without Kevin Grant due to work committments but retained the services of Bryan Bell despite his sending off in the Scottish Cup tie against Auchinleck Talbot. The morning paper had Clach down as missing 8 first team players but the Merkinch side appeared, as expected, with a full squad.

The few punters who chose to brave an afternoon in the elements were driven into the enclosure by the pouring rain which started well before kick-off and carried on throughout, making for a difficult afternoon for the players who spent the afternoon sliding about on the almost waterlogged surface.

Lossie were first to threaten. Bagley played the ball to Sam Milton out on the wing and the youngster sent a low cross into the box and across the face of goal, only for the ball to evade the sliding Ross Archibald and go out for a goal kick. Clach were being restricted to long range efforts and caused McConnachie few problems in the first half.

Lossie were ahead midway through the half. With a delicate passing game difficult to orchestrate in the conditions, McConnachie opted to launch the ball downfield from a goal kick and Ross ARCHIBALD sprinted past a stationary defence before tucking the ball under Harrison to open the scoring.

The rain continued to pour as the second half started and before the hour Clach were level. Sam URQUHART took advantage of some sloppy defending from Lossie to sneak between McConnachie and Flett and poke the ball home from the edge of the area.

The equaliser was almost followed by a second goal and only a goalline clearance from Garry Macdonald stopped the visitors from going ahead. Paul Brindle was next to go close for Clach, getting into a shooting position inside the box before lifting the ball over McConnachie and wide of goal.

Clach were left to rue, albeit temporarily, the missed chances when Lossie went ahead for the second time. A free kick from the halfway line sailed into the box and before the ball could be cleared Liam ARCHIBALD pounced to score from close range.

The goal came with less than ten minutes left and Lossie made substitutions as they tried to close the game out. Clach kept Lossie pinned back in the hope of snatching an equaliser and as the game entered injury time the scores were level once more when Alan POLLOCK volleyed home from inside the area through a ruck of players.

The equaliser came deep into injury time and to the horror of the home support it was soon followed by a winner for Clach. A Lossie corner was cleared and as Clach broke downfield Steven Sim was red-carded for a foul committed on the half way line as he tried to bring play to a halt. The resulting free kick was launched into the box and the home defence stood watching as Colin WILLIAMSON somehow found room to lash home the winner past a helpless McConnachie.
