v Lossiemouth @ Christie Park, Huntly

20-Dec-2008 Deveronvale v Lossiemouth - Scot-Ads Highland League

Lossie were the first to threaten through Shawn Scott but his effort failed to cause Bremner any problems and then with little over a minute played Huntly took the lead Richard Craig played the ball to Michele Lombardi who cut back for Michael EWEN who drove low into bottom corner from edge of box.

It was nearly two just a minute later when Michael Morrison's header from a Craig free kick was tipped inches wide by visiting keeper Darren McConnachie.

Minutes later a Russell Guild ball put through Richard Craig but his chipped effort flew over the top. While at the other edge Sean McIntosh saw a downward header slip wide from a Calum Reid cross.

With just over 15 minutes gone Alan Redford came to the home sides rescue when he cleared off the line after Jamie Bagley rounded goalkeeper Bremner.

Mid way through the half Richard Craig played a knock on to Ewen who shot on the turn but McConnachie was again alert to keep the forward out.

With half an hour gone both Russell Guild and Mark Gray had shots blocked in quick succession with the later being turned for corner. From resultant flag kick Guild played it short to Gray who chipped in to Morrison who thought he had netted with header only for it to be ruled off for offside.

Three minutes from the break Sean MacIntosh looked to have been taken down in area only for referee Roddy Cobb to award a free kick just outside box. However after quick consultation with assistant Michael Legge, the linesman informed him that the challenge was inside the area. Scott MATHESON then stepped up and sent the ball high into the top right corner

Two minutes later Huntly regained the lead after a quick break upfield when the ball fell to Michele LOMBARDI 20 yards out and his shot took a slight deflection and beat McConnachie.

Half time – Huntly 2 Lossiemouth 1

A minute into the second half a Michael Ewen backheel for Michele Lombardi should have been buried by the former Forfar player but he fired wide from close range. Just two minutes on and Michael Morrison's challenge saw him receive a straight red from Roddy Cobb much to the surprise and frustration of the player who was shown a second red card for the subsequent dissent.

With the man advantage Lossie pressed forward and Sean McIntosh brought out a great save from Ross Bremner, the keeper tipping the well struck effort over the bar. At the other end an Alan Redford solo run, in which he waltzed past five players, saw him felled at the edge of the box. Richard Craig stepped up to take the free kick but it was acrobatically turned behind by Darren McConnachie.

A Jamie Bagley shot was turned into the sidenetting by Bremner who then did well to save a 30 yard free kick from Scott Matheson after Craig had fouled the former Rangers man. A Ross Campbell tackle then stopped sub Michael Wilson as Huntly consolidated before suckering Lossie with a third goal.

Neil Reid did excellently to create the opportunity and it was Michael EWEN who controlled the ball in from wide before dispatching it past McConnachie to effectively win the game.

In the dying moments Jamie BAGLEY used his aerial presence to head home a late consolation for Lossie despite claims for offside but it was Huntly who took the three points for the second week in a row.
