Clach travelled to Lossie to
complete the league double over the Coasters, scoring fewer goals than in
the last meeting between the clubs, but securing victory without much
trouble. A very early opener from Kyle Maclean gave the home support a
scare, but Clach secured the points with second half strikes from Andrew
Lewis and Alan Moir.
A strong wind caused both sides problems from the very start, and in the third minute Clach took the lead. Kyle MACLEAN chased down a passback to McConnachie in the Lossie goal and got their first, taking the ball off the toe of the free-scoring net minder before stroking the ball home with his right foot from the edge of the penalty area. This was not the start anyone wanted to see, especially those present at the nine goal demolition in August, who will only recently have left therapy. The visitors could smell blood as Lossie laboured in the wind, and the home side were almost two behind minutes later, but a tight offside call prevented Maclean from scoring his second of the day. Lossie got their act together as the half progressed, with Tony Ross sending a probing cross into the area which beat the breezy conditions but found no takers. Stuart Macgregor then unleashed a venomous shot at goal from all of thirty yards, forcing a fine one handed save from Hastie. The hosts continued to press
for a leveller, with Shawn Scott looking the most likely to equalise. The
former Highland League Player of the Year saw one shot blocked inside the
box and forced out for a corner, and was stopped in the act of shooting by
a precise sliding challenge by Gordon McKenzie. Lossie upped the tempo at the start of the second half, as they searched for a much needed equaliser. Stuart Macgregor saw a low cross cleared as it entered the six yard box, before Shawn Scott fired over the bar following good work by Michael Smith. The home side were made to pay before the hour as Clach doubled their advantage, Andrew LEWIS doing the damage from 25 yards with a clinical left footed strike. The game was finished only a minute later as Clach went three ahead, this time through a corner. Adam Naismith provided the cross and Alan MOIR was first to the ball, nodding home from close range. Clach were home and dry with half an hour left to play, but Lossie continued to try for a consolation. Calum Read and Kyle Stewart had efforts on goal, the former firing just over the bar before Stewart saw his daisy cutter stopped at the post by Hastie. Clach had the last chance of the day, Adam Naismith trying his luck from thirty yards, only to find McConnachie more than equal to the shot. Lossie fall three points behind Clach in the league and now face Huntly at Grant Park. The Coasters have a poor record against the Gordon side, but showed plenty of fight in the game at Christie Park in December and will be looking to sneak a point or three against a Huntly side thats been in middling form of late.
