Lossiemouth FC - Match Report
Buckie Thistle
v Lossiemouth @ Victoria Park, Buckie

04-Apr-2009 Buckie Thistle v Lossiemouth - Scot-Ads Highland League

Today's match saw the Jags turn it on after the hour mark adding 3 goals to an early strike on their way to an impressive 4-0 win over Lossiemouth. Resolute defending from the two Buckie centre backs played a key part in the victory.

Lossie's full-back Kyle Stewart was struggling to deal with the threat down from Paul Napier in the first half and the former Elgin City man got down the right wing with ease and played a low ball through the box which Craig Macmillan couldn't get on the end of.

Charlie Brown was the next to show his pace down the line; the Jags striker went on to cross the ball to the far post for Paul Napier to volley wide from 10 yards.  It was 3rd time unlucky for him as Charlie Brown drew Darren McConnachie off his line by a fair bit and passed the ball into Craig MACMILLAN who tapped in from the penalty spot.

Charlie Brown squandered a glorious opportunity 23 minutes in when he met Donnie Munro's through ball to go 1 on 1 with the keeper, only to put is shot wide of the far post.

Lossie would have probably equalised 51 minutes in had it not been for the pitch. Sean McIntosh crossed a low ball in which bobbled along the ground to Anthony Ross who put his shot over the bar from 6 yards with the late bounce causing him to misjudge the finish.

At the other end a sloppy clearance from Craig Donaldson on the hour mark gave Craig MacMillan the opportunity to half volley a ball on the bounce, and his effort was put only inches over the bar.

Buckie finally switched on 65 minutes in, Paul Napier's corner was met by the head of Charlie Brown who played the ball across goal to Lewis DUGUID who amongst a scramble of players put the ball into the top of the inside netting.

Buckie had a strong Penalty claim 73 minutes in, Darren McConnachie was caught off his line again and appeared to clip Charlie Brown just inside the box. The referee however felt the Lossie goalkeeper got the ball.

Five minutes after this and Buckie had the third. Charlie Brown passed the ball from inside the box out wide to Paul NAPIER who fired and chipped the keeper from the corner of the box.

Substitute Stephen BRUCE got in on the action one minute into stoppage time, taking the ball on a solo run the finishing superbly by tucking the ball past McConnachie at the near post from the edge of the box.
