Lossiemouth v Keith @ Grant Park, Lossiemouth

17-Aug-2007 Lossiemouth v Keith - Scot-Ads Highland League

Three second half goals saw Keith climb to the top of the Scot Ads Highland League table for the first time this season, albeit for only a few hours assuming at least one of the teams with three points on the board add another win to their tally tomorrow.

Lossie, playing their third game in six days were the first to create a half chance with David Blackhall's shot falling to Craig Morrison but his effort was deflected over the bar in the third minute.

At the other end a Stuart Walker cross saw Jamie Lennox rise well but his header skimmed just wide of the far post from six yards out.  Then in the tenth minute another ball in from the right, this time crossed by full back Johnny Walker saw Dean Donaldson meet it on the volley at the back edge of the six yard box.  The winger flashed an effort across the goals but there were no takers.

Keith began to push the Coasters back but the Reds were defending well and the title holders best efforts came firstly from a 30 yard Jamie Lennox effort which was tipped over the bar then a set piece delivery which saw Mark Perry get free of his man only to blaze a header over the bar from six yards out.

With the score level at the break once again it was the home team who came close to snatching a lead, creating the first opening of the half.  Steven Rattray cut in from the right and played a ball into David Blackhall who spun and hit a low left foot shot just wide of Andy Shearer's left hand post.

The breakthrough finally arrived in the 55th minute and it came from the penalty spot.  Martin Wood spun away down the right and delivered a cross into the box which both defenders and attackers went for.  The shrill whistle of the referee signalled that he had spotted and infringement and he subsequently pointed to the penalty spot deeming that Kevin Stuart had pushed Jamie Lennox to the frustration of the centre back.  Dean DONALDSON stepped up and placed the ball to the keepers right while Craig Masterton went left.

Lossie were down but not out at this stage and very nearly levelled 13 minutes later when a David Blackhall corner was controlled by Steven Dixon who turned and hit a low shot towards the bottom corner, only to see the man on the line boot clear.  Despite a spell of pressure for the home team Keith scored the crucial second goal to clinch the victory seventeen minutes from time.  A Dean Donaldson free kick took a deflection then Stuart WALKER flicked it goalwards.  Craig Masterton turned the shot onto the post but it fell back out straight to the winger who gleefully sidefooted into the empty net.

In the final minute the Maroons put the seal on things with man of the match Mark PERRY rising unchallenged at the back post to nod a Graham Lonie's outswinging corner home from 4 yards out.
