Lossie move level on points with
Brora following a last gasp win over Fort William at a cold and snowy
Claggan Park which takes their recent record to three wins in just four
games.
With most of the early play being made by the home side the first chance came on 11 minutes and it fell to Fort's Andy MacLean, whose well struck shot was deflected by the alert Steve Dixon. Duncan Lamont headed clear from the resulting corner. Two minutes later Johnathan Hewitt had two chances in a minute. His first effort, a header from around 6 yards, was well saved by Darren McConnachie low to his right and moments later he skewed his shot wide of the goal from the edge of box. Lossie took the lead after 23 minutes when Sean Macintosh thrashed down right wing and played the ball to Wood, on the overlap, who centred the ball low into box where it was missed by Fort's keeper, Richard Munro leaving Graeme WILSON with a simple finish at the opposite post. Sean McIntosh missed a great opportunity after 29 minutes when Fort's slack defending allowed Wilson to play in the young striker but he missed from 4 yards when it looked easier to score. Sean McIntosh, George Russell and Calum Reid all tried speculative efforts for Lossie before the home side finished the half off with a couple of good chances. Martin Godwin headed wide from corner when he probably should've scored and just moments later a long range effort from Andy MacLean was deflected onto bar and over with Darren McConnachie well beaten. Half time – Fort William 0 Lossiemouth 1 The first chance of the second half fell to Andy Maclean whose left foot shot from 18 yards was well tipped round the post by McConnachie. Just before the hour mark Calum Reid sprinted half the length of the pitch and into the box before forcing a great save from Richard Munro. Lossie were in the ascendancy and forced a few corners but no chances before Fort William equalised through Neil CAMERON. Statuesque defending allowed the substitute to force his way into the box and finish with his right foot With 8 minutes to go Kyle Stewart had a real chance to win game for the Coasters but he flashed his header across the goal following a good cross from Mark Wood. Neil Cameron again caused Lossie problems in the 88th minute when he fired the ball across the front of goal which was narrowly missed by Hewitt but in 89th minute it was John URQUHART who won the game for the visitors when he scrambled the ball over the line from a few feet following some chaotic defending. As a goal, it wasn't of the quality to trouble the goal of the year award panel, but they all count and it sent Lossie home happy. The Coasters now face two home games against Wick Academy and Rothes, games which are eminently winnable given the recent form Lossie have been in. Full time – Fort William 1 Lossiemouth 2 |
