After two heavy defeats on the
bounce with a return of zero goals for their efforts, Lossie ventured onto
Grant Park with something to prove against a Huntly side that had it all
too easy the previous weekend. With David Hendry out injured and Steven
Rattray absent, Mudi Ewere made his first start for Lossie, with Kyle
Stewart and Shaun McIntosh also featuring from the start as the Coasters
looked to reverse the previous weekends result. there
was to be no counter on this occasion. Huntly
had the better of the opening stages and Alan Redford had the first chance
of the game, putting the ball wide after an accurate cross from McWilliam.
With chances at a premium, it was a nervy game, and Lossie had Craig Masterton to thank for keeping the game scoreless as he did well to stop an 18-yard drive from Russell Guild on the half hour. Huntly should have had a penalty midway through the half after Kevin Stuart narrowly clipped his mans heels before getting the ball, but the referee waved play on, to Lossies relief. Just when you thought they were going to get away with it, Huntly ruined things. Minutes before the break, a Mark Gray corner swung towards Masterton who failed to punch convincingly and Colin ROBERTSON drilled home from ten yards to open both the scoring and the sweep on how many more would go in.Half time – Lossiemouth 0 Huntly 1 The teams appeared for the
second half looking a little unenthusiastic. Huntly trotted out with full
confidence that Lossie would fail to score unless something went wrong,
and Lossie evidently adopted the same attitude, going by body language. On the hour, Huntly should have put the game out of sight. Russell Guild, a man becoming far too comfortable in the hot house atmosphere of Grant Park, was once again in charge and pinged a fine ball over the box to Neil Gauld, only to see his work go to waste as the forward drilled his shot wide. After that, Huntly retreated into their own half and invited Lossie to have a go. Eager to get some shooting practice in after a few weekends without a goal, Lossie obliged and surged forward time after time, with Huntly becoming ever more ropey at the rear. Kyle Stewart had the best chance of the game for the home side as he ran through to collect a tidy throughball from Shaun McIntosh, but with Morrison waiting in the box, the youngster blazed his shot high over the bar. Lossie continued to press as Huntly fell to pieces at the back. The visitors, unable to escape their own half, were thankful for Lossies inability to cross a ball, as corner after corner and set piece after set piece failed to hit the target and despite all the pressure, Bremner had another relatively quiet afternoon. Ewere had the last chance of the game but volleyed wide from a dozen yards, and the Tigers strolled back to the farm with all three points. Lossie now face the hazardous trip to Mosset Park, where a Forres side lie in wait. Fresh from scraping past Buckie Thistle at the weekend, the Brown and Yellow Hoops (seriously) will look to put some distance between themselves and the bottom pack. Lossie will need to take every chance this time out.Full time – Lossiemouth 0 Huntly 1 |
