Former
Grant Park star Darren Still returned to haunt Lossie on a dark, wet,
miserable day, which got more miserable for the home side as the afternoon
wore on, with a leaky defence conceding six goals for the second time this
season. Lossie
started well, with McMullan firing a couple of early long-range shots at
Shearer in a bid to test the keeper, but both flew just over. Keith came
close with a free kick after quarter of an hour, but it was cleared from
the line. McIntosh drilled a low shot across the box where it just passed
the foot of Kennedy, and Tosher went on to force a good save from Shearer
after a goalmouth scramble. McMullan again went close from distance, but
Lossie could not get past a well organised and very vocal Keith defence. The
visitors opened the scoring ten minutes from half time through Stuart WALKER,
who curled a shot at Dunn in the Lossie goal, only for the swerve of the
ball to confuse the big keeper and bounce over him. Keith
grabbed a second goal exactly seventy seconds later. Alan Fraser drove a
low cross to the far post where it met an unmarked Stuart WALKER
who rolled the ball in for an easy second. As the rain poured down, things
were looking grim for the Lossie support. Keith continued to carve Lossie
apart as the half drew to a close, with Walker heading over despite the
attention of Dixon Half time - Lossiemouth 1 Keith 2 As
the players took to the field for the second half, the rain continued to
pour and, combined with the strong wind in Keiths favour, things were not
going to get any easier for Lossie. Only
ten minutes into the second half and Keith effectively killed the game
with their third goal. Stuart Walker saw his shot deflect off Gareth Smith
and towards Darren STILL, who fired home from a dozen yards. It
was four on the hour, as Alan Fraser strolled through the Lossie rearguard
and passed to STILL in the six yard box, and he wasn’t going to
miss from there. Keith were tearing Lossie apart with ease and grabbed a
fifth minutes later through FRASER who put the ball into the net
via the base of the post. Lossie
occasionally threatened, and a good pass out of midfield by Moir found
McMullan racing into the box, but he could only shoot high and wide. Ellis
then dazzled the Keith defence and after beating three, headed towards
goal but scuffed his shot wide. Such action was rare, however, and Keith
were still going at Lossie with all guns blazing. Another poor afternoon for Lossie, who must no longer be wondering when they will turn the corner, but if the corner actually exists. Morrison again looked more than comfortable in front of goal, but poor, poor defending and a master class in finishing from former Coaster Darren Still gave Lossie no chance of getting anything from the game.
