Fort William came into this match with high hopes of picking up their first win of the season with Rab Mulheron able to put out arguable his strongest team of the year to date to face a Lossiemouth side that had only 10 recognised first team players available for selection including Gareth Smith and Jordan Main, both of whom have played only a handful of minutes since the turn of the year.
The Fort got off to the start they were looking for with a goal in the 11th minute letting them get their noses in front. Ryan Haggerty had already tested Stevie Dunn with a crisp turn and shot that the keeper saved well four minutes earlier when Jonathon Hewitt picked the ball up 20 yards out and drove diagonally into the box before firing the ball low across goal. Young Danny Mackintosh arrived on cue at the back post and he placed it high into the net from 6 yards.
Gareth Smith set Doug Coull clear of the visiting defence in the thirteenth minute but without the pace of Morrison to burn off the defence Coull was tracked by the Fort rearguard who were able to put enough pressure on the big striker to force him to fire wide of Mark McRitchie's right hand post.
Seeing two goals in one half scored by Fort players has been a rare occurrence this season but the travelling party were pleased to have narrowly avoided seeing that at Grant Park when a Jordan Main free kick from near the corner flag was headed perilously past his own post by George Russell. Very nearly an
o.g.
A minute before the break a great save by Stevie Dunn kept Lossie in the game as he got down to hold Mark Dougal's free kick after Fort's top scorer curled a 20 yarder around the right hand side of the wall.

The first chance of the second half fell to Fort William ten minutes after the restart. Stuart Pearce hit a shot that was blocked back to the edge of the 18 yard box where it fell kindly for Jonathon Hewitt but, with a clear sight of goal, his shot flew inches over.
Fort William were looking the better of the two teams in a tight second half and Ryan Haggerty was the next to graze the bar with an drilled 20 yard effort after a one-two with Danny Mackintosh set up the shooting opportunity.
With ten minutes left Fort William sealed their success. Lossiemouth had a corner and went for broke pushing all but Michael Wintjes into the box. When Fort countered through Mark Dougal and Danny Mackintosh it was the former who played the ball in front of the latter who ran the length of the half before nicking the ball under the hand of Stevie Dunn from inside the area.
The final whistle was greeted with great delight by the Fort bench and players who had finally got the monkey of a winless season off their back and they can look forward to next week's league match against Wick hoping to maintain a winning run.
