Lossiemouth FC - Match Reports
Brora Rangers v Lossiemouth @ Dudgeon Park, Brora

25-Feb-2006 Brora Rangers v Lossiemouth - Scot-Ads Highland League

Lossie returned to winning ways with a fine win at Dudgeon Park against Brora Rangers. The Coasters had to come from behind though, but went into the interval leading by four goals to one, and finished up 5-2 winners.

The visitors took to the field with recent signing Tony Ross in the starting line-up, and the Lossie defence was quickly under pressure, with Mark Kennedy heading just wide for Brora.

Brora took the lead 8 minutes in with a well-worked set piece after Lee Moir was harshly judged to have fouled Neil Calder on the edge of the box. Connor Campbell rolled the ball to Sam MACKAY who rifled home to the corner of the net from 20 yards.

Lossie were not behind for long, and equalised two minutes later, when MOIR stabbed home from close range after Brora failed to clear their lines on more than a few occasions. Lossie were creating chances and Morrison was the next to try for goal, firing over from the edge of the box after a precise long ball from Wintjes.

Lossie took the lead midway through the half, when Martin MCMULLAN pounced to fire home after Gray could only parry a free kick from Ellis.

On the half hour Lossie made it three. A fine cross from Moir was missed by everyone and fell to MCMULLAN on the corner of the box, and he showed great technique to beat Gray with a rasping drive to the far post.

Minutes before the interval Lossie went further ahead and it was another fine strike from the clubs top scorer this season. Craig MORRISON met a cross from Gary Youngson on his chest, before turning to volley home before the ball touched the ground.

Half time - Brora Rangers 1 Lossiemouth 4

Lossie started the second half at a crisp pace, with Moir and Dougie Coull asking questions in the opening minutes. Morrison sent a beautiful curling shot just wide of the far post, before McMullan shot just over from 20 yards.

Supporters of both clubs will remember how Lossie came close to blowing a three goal lead at Grant Park last season, and ten minutes into the second half Lossie fans must have been looking nervously at their watches as the home side pulled one back. Steve Dunn did well in saving a low drive from Mackay, but with no one following up to clear Conner CAMPBELL had an easy tap in from a few yards.

The comeback was short lived however, as the visitors went further ahead ten minutes later. A quick throw in from Morrison to McMullan was returned and Mo powered quickly into the box before firing at goal. With the ball looking like running wide, MOIR appeared at the far post to make sure for his second of the afternoon.

Brora had not given up completely, and Dunn had to produce a fine save to tip over the bar a chip from Kennedy.

The last real chance for Brora came five minutes from the end when Gordon Mackenzie put the ball in the net. His excitement was short-lived as he turned to see the linesman with his flag up.

A fine performance from Lossie, who now sit above Wick Academy in the table. League football takes a break this weekend, with Fort William the visitors to Grant Park for the first round of the League Cup, before the visit of Inverurie Locos the following week.
