Lossiemouth v Deveronvale @ Grant Park, Lossiemouth

17-Dec-2005 Lossiemouth v Deveronvale - Scot-Ads Highland League

Lossies miserable December run continued as Deveronvale put six past the hapless Coasters without reply. Three goals from Ian Murray, two from Mark Chisholm followed on from Paul Urquhart’s opener, meaning Lossie have conceded 24 goals in their past four games.

A lethargic opening quarter of an hour saw few chances for either side, with the ball spending plenty of time in the middle of the park. Deveronvale were taking their time to get stuck in, aware that Lossies recent defensive record meant a goal would soon come.

Twenty minutes in and the visitors opened the scoring. Hesitation from Dunn caused him to miss a cross from the right, and it fell to the feet of Paul URQUHART, who made no mistake from three yards out.

Two minutes later and Vale had doubled their advantage, and in a similarly easy fashion. Mark Smith fired in a cross and with the Lossie defence posted missing, Ian MURRAY tapped in from six yards.

Lossie immediately went looking for a reply, and Jordan Main had the home sides first chance of the afternoon, but scuffed his shot into the arms of Blanchard. Craig Morrison then turned his man on the edge of the box and fired a shot goalward, but the Vale keeper was equal to it, tipping the ball over the bar.

On the half hour, Lossie came close again, and it was Morrison again causing problems. His diving header from a dozen yards was spectacularly palmed away from goal by Blanchard, resulting in a corner, which Dixon headed over.

Deveronvale as good as sealed the win just before the interval, when Ian MURRAY scored his second of the afternoon.

Half time - Lossiemouth 0 Deveronvale 3

Five minutes into the second period and the result was beyond doubt as Ian MURRAY raced onto a through ball down the middle, rounded Dunn and rolled the ball in for his hat-trick.

On the hour mark, Joe Lasley thought he had the ball in the net, but saw his effort cleared off the line, only for the ball to fall to Lee Moir who shot over from 18 yards.

Fifteen minutes remained when the visitors went nap. A free kick from Smith out by the touchline met the head of Mark CHISHOLM and sailed in.

With ten minutes remaining Lossie were denied a clear penalty after a heavy foul on Morrison by McWilliam, and to make matters worse, the home side had Lasley sent off for two bookings in the space of a couple of minutes.

Deveronvale then completed the afternoons scoring by grabbing a sixth with the last kick of the ball. Shoddy defending allowed Mark CHISHOLM time to stroke home his second of the afternoon.

Another bad day at the office, compounded by the sending off of Lasley late on. The trip to Fraserburgh this weekend may see more of the same.
