Lossie made the short trip east to Buckie for the penultimate game of the season against the Jags, looking to put the heavy defeat by Huntly behind them.

The teams strolled out into bright sunshine but, as in previous weeks, Lossie were off the pace and happy to let Buckie come at them until they found their feet. This tactic was to cost the visitors, as Buckie took the lead after only 12 minutes. A corner was headed down at the back post, and Kevin SMALL was on hand to fire home an excellent volley. The Lossie support present at the previous weeks Huntly game immediately feared the worst, but David Hendry gave them cause for optimism, with a storming run into the box, but his final shot went was well saved by former Lossie keeper Kevin Main.

The home side set about dominating the game, but thankfully for the Coasters, Buckie went on to waste chance after chance, and had the front line been a little sharper, Lossie would have been on the receiving end of a real hiding. Lossie made the odd chance of their own, and McMullan was presented with a clear run on goal after a great through ball from Ellis, but Main got down well to save at his feet inside the box.

Half time – Buckie Thistle 1 Lossiemouth 0

The teams slowly walked onto the pitch for the second half looking like condemned men, and the game became little more than an end of season training session. Buckie still dominated proceedings, but the visitors kept them restricted to shots from long range, the vast majority of which went flying over the bar. A heavily strapped up Biscuits was eventually substituted for the young Gordon Riddoch, who impressed last week, and immediately Lossie looked a better side. Hendry and Youngson traded passes down the left, and the latter fired in a curling cross that was headed just wide by McMullan.

The teams traded long range shots for a while, and you had to wonder if Buckie were interested in scoring again, with Shewan and Munro being particularly wasteful. McMullan forced Main into another save with a rasping strike, but there was to be no more goals in this tie.
