Lossiemouth FC Match Reports - 14-Aug-2004 - Lossiemouth v Fort William

Report by Kevan McIntosh

First Half.

Lossiemouth saw off a stubborn Fort William side to record their first victory of the new season thanks to the finishing prowess of Darren Shalliker and Shawn Scott.

The first chance of the match came the way of Fort William. Mark MacDougall's 20 yard free kick was well saved by Stevie Dunn in the Lossie goal as the summer signing looked to make it two goals in his first two games.

The Coasters took the lead in the 20th minute. Darren SHALLIKER took a Martin McMullen centre from the left on his chest before calmly slotting the ball home from ten yards in similar fashion to last Saturday's strike against Forres Mechanics.

Midway through the half Fort went close again. Ryan Haggerty's half volley from just outside the box whistling past Stevie Dunn's post to the relief of the Lossie faithful.

Second Half

Shortly after the break Ryan HAGGERTY levelled for Fort William taking advantage of a Mark MacDougall cross from the right that looped over the head of Stevie Dunn leaving Haggerty with the simplest of finishes.

There was good news for Graham Tatters as Lossie went back in front in the 73rd minute when Darren SHALLIKER collected the ball but was brought down. He got up and dusted himself down before firing it low beyond the keepers left hand.

The Coasters then sealed the win in the 80th minute when Shawn SCOTT grabbed his first goal since returning from Forres Mechanics heading a Lee Moir cross into the bottom corner.

Lossie will now travel to Wick on a high while Fort must re–group and prepare to welcome Brora to Claggan Park next Saturday.

FINAL SCORE: LOSSIEMOUTH 3 FORT WILLIAM 1
