Deveronvale 5 Lossiemouth 0

Lossiemouth were taught a lesson in finishing by a fluent Deveronvale in soggy conditions at Princess Royal Park today. The Coasters failed to score for the first time in an HFL match this season, but conceded enough to keep reporters and supporters occupied for the full 90 minutes.

Before the game was a minute old, Lossiemouth were a goal down to former Lossie man MCKENZIE, who took advantage of slow defending to shoot home and commence what was to be a miserable afternoon for the away support. Lossie were looking all at sea, and chose to leave McKenzie unmarked for a good part of the game, and he gleefully took advantage of this generosity.

Nine minutes in and Lossie spurned a golden chance to equalise. Scott was sent clean away by Shalliker, but the youngster could only fire his shot against the legs of Bremner. The rebound was fired wide by McMullan. To add insult to injury, Vale went two up from a corner in the 12th minute. The initial ball was headed on to SMITH who nodded home from inches out. Lossie immediately countered with a shot from Ellis, but again it was well saved and nothing was made of the rebound.

On the quarter hour mark, Vales third goal ensured the points were staying in Banff. A cross from McKenzie found SMITH who made no mistake in heading home past a stranded Dunn.

At 3-0, Lossie began to look a little more composed, and spread out from the middle of the park. The visitors continued to create chances, but they were all soaked up by the Vale defence who, despite not looking particularly steady at times, coped well with the usually potent strike force.

HALF TIME – Deveronvale 3 Lossiemouth 0

The second half started brightly for Lossie, with a strike from Scott forcing Bremner into a low save in order to keep his goal intact.

Vale put themselves further in front on the hour when Karl FARRIMOND tapped home from 6 yards after good work from McKenzie. FARRIMOND doubles his tally for the afternoon and finished the scoring three minutes later, finishing off a shot from McKenzie which had hit both posts and rebounded out.

Lossies closest chance in the second half came from Scott, who found the ball at his feet only a few yards from goal, but could only watch in dismay as his shot went inches past the post, and brought an end to a miserable afternoon.
