Lossiemouth FC Match Reports - 04-Dec-2004 - Keith v Lossiemouth
Scot-Ads Highland League

Report by Jimmy Shaker

Keith 0 Lossiemouth 3

Lossiemouth continued their fine recent form with an outstanding away win at Keith. The Coasters won with goals from Scott, Ellis and a Shalliker penalty, and could easily have had a couple more. The first clean sheet of the season made for one of the best results since Lossies win at Clach early in the year.

The game started in spectacular style, with Keith being awarded a penalty in the first minute. Dunn hauled down Stephen as he raced through on goal and Morag Pirie had no hesitation in pointing to the spot. The Lossie keeper redeemed himself with a fine stop from Kenny McKenzie, who hit his shot straight at Dunn, and the former Lossie player put the rebound wide.

Shalliker and Scott were looking sharp up front, and both were having chances to score. Barry Stephen scorned a number of opportunities for Keith, and was continually hampered by a very alert Lossie back line.

Lossie took the lead in the 35th minute. The referee played a good advantage which allowed Hendry to lose his man and play a low cross to SCOTT, who fired a superb shot past Shearer into the far corner of the net. Almost straight away Lossie could have made it two, but Shearer got down well to save a shot from Shalliker.

The away side did go two nil up after 41 minutes. Keith struggled to cope with the Scott/Shalliker double act all through the first half, and they made the home side pay when they released ELLIS, who hit a low drive into the bottom corner past a diving Shearer.

HALF TIME – Keith 0 Lossiemouth 2

Lossie started slowly in the second half, and allowed Keith to get a hold of the game early on. While restricting the home side to shots from distance, Lossie found it difficult to retain possession and found themselves with their backs to wall on occasion, but Walker ensured Lossies goal remained intact.

Just past the hour mark, Lossie made it 3-0. Scott found himself upended in the box by Shearer whilst in the process of shooting, and the second penalty of the game was awarded. SHALLIKER stepped up and placed the ball nicely inside the far corner giving Shearer no chance.

Shearer was given the chance to redeem himself minutes later when Hendry was sent clean through, and the big keeper took the ball off the wingers toe on the edge of the box to deny Lossie a fourth. Lossie spurned an almost identical opportunity shortly after, but Shalliker was also foiled.

Keith continued to press for a goal, and Dunn had to be at his best to tip a shot from Barry Stephen over the bar, but as the game came to a close, Lossie kept the Kynoch side at bay and finished up winning handsomely.

Lossie can be very happy with the performances from all players on the day. Lee Walker in particular stood out at the back and ensured Lossie kept Keith from getting back into the game. December offers three opportunities for success, with games against Fort William and Wick Academy, both of whom Lossie have already beaten this season, and a home tie against Forres Mechanics, which will see the return of Mike Morrison to Grant Park. Based on todays performance, Lossie have the capability to take maximum points from all three.
