Lossiemouth and Culter have to do it all over again in a first round replay following a goalless draw in their William Hill Scottish Cup tie. A first half penalty save by Errol Watson, his second in as many home games, was one of the few highlights from a game featuring little in the way of incident.
Lossie were without the services ofChris Ross and Jamie McKinnon, and utilised Grant Mitchell at the back in their absence. Callum Dunbar made it into the team despite
Culter took the game to Lossie in the opening stages, pinning their hosts back in their half but without creating much in the way of chances.
Callum Dunbar had the best of the chances for the home side, first shooting over before firing a shot into the arms of Duffy.
With half an hour played, Culter were awarded a penalty when Ian Leith was felled just inside the area by Grant Mitchell. Jamie McAllister took on the responsibility but saw his powerful effort saved by Errol Watson, his second penalty save in as many home games.
The last chance of the first half fell to Lossie. From in front of the stand, Kevin Flett curled a free kick into the area which sailed close to the front post. Darren Kelly forced his own keeper into a one handed save when his attempted clearance looked to be heading for the top corner. The resulting corner was cleared as far as Greig Watson thirty yards out and his long range effort went just wide.
Half time – Lossiemouth 0-0 Culter
The second half turned out to be even less action packed than the first, with both keepers reduced to watching a number of corners and free kicks come their way. Culter were awarded a well positioned set-piece midway through the half but the lack of energy in the game affected Hugh Robertson as he curled an effort well over the bar.
The sides now meet again at Crombie Park, Peterculter this Saturday (September 21st) to decide the tie, with extra time and penalties an option if required to decide who will face Newton Stewart or Fort William in the next round.
